Come and discover the valleys of the Vologne: an area with a rich military and industrial past, dotted with unmissable natural sites such as the Helledraye massif and the Vologne and, last but not least, with a heritage that is varied in its forms and uses. Starting from the Bruyères tourist office (where you can hire electric bikes), the route, signposted ‘heritage route No. 16’ and accessible by mountain bike, begins with an inner-urban route through picturesque little streets, with a view of the remains of Bruyères castle. It then heads towards the Massif de l'Helledraye, where it takes in part of the Ant Trail. It's a climb! Just 200 m from the route, you can discover the US Monument and the Friendship Knot dedicated to the American liberators of the Second World War. The route continues along the crest line of the Helledraye massif, offering panoramic views over the Vologne valley before reaching the commune of Fays. The route takes you to Lépanges-sur-Vologne, a typical example of a working-class town that bears witness to our textile industrial past. You can see it better on your left after crossing the Vologne when you reach Prey and then Fiménil. The rest of the route offers a number of crossings and encounters with the Vologne, before reaching the Romanesque church at Champ le Duc. To finish, the route runs alongside the Avison (a mountain emblematic of the Bruyères area), past the Chapelle de la Roche (Fontaine St Georges 100 m below) and on to the Place Stanislas in the heart of Bruyères, past the former synagogue, now home to the Musée de Bruyères, which has been listed as a historic monument.
