This tour through the heart of the mountains covers excellent terrain for specific training.
Start from the centre of Saulcy-sur-Meurthe and take time to warm up on the flat stretch before tackling the Béhouille (with a gradient of over 10%) to the Mandray pass. You can recover over the next 10 kilometres before you reach the foot of the Arrentès pass, which connects Corcieux with Granges-sur-Vologne. When you leave Granges-sur-Vologne, you climb up to the plateau of Champdray in a series of steps. At the top you have reached your half-way mark. Stop for a breather while you admire the magnificent panorama that opens up from the plateau at an altitude of 730 metres. Proceed along the D50 to Bruyères. A 25-kilometre downhill stretch along the banks of Le Buttan brings you quickly to Brouvelieures. After a few kilometres turn off the D50 to Mortagne. Continue along the forest road (*) of Rouges-Eaux to the Noirmont pass. Here take the direction of Taintrux to the south of the Kemberg range. Go over La Fosse Hill, last difficulty on this tour. In all you will have covered 101 kilometres and climbed 1650 metres.
(*) Private road managed by the French Forestry Commission use of which is normally restricted to forestry vehicles.
